Wetlands Highlights


The 25th National Wetlands Awards Ceremony was held on May 8, 2014 at the U.S. Botanic Garden. 

The Staten Island Wetlands: Wetland systems proved critical in protecting much of Staten Island's (NYC) northwest communities during 2012's Hurricane Sandy. The Trust for Public Land continues to identify and conserve wetlands and resilient natural buffers throughout the region in order to expand the network of natural lands which can help absorb the impact of climate-driven storm events. (New York State Director for The Trust for Public Lands, Marc Matsil, was the 1993 awardee in the Local Government category)

The Minnesota Association of Professional Employees interviews member Doug Norris, Winner of the 2013 National Wetland Award for State, Tribal and Local Program Development about  how he works alongside others to keep Minnesota's wetlands viable.
